Teak

Teak contains natural oils that help protect the timber from moisture and the elements, making it particularly well suited to outdoor furniture. With time and exposure to sunlight, untreated teak will naturally weather from its original warm tone to a soft, silvery-grey patina. This change is a natural part of the timber’s character and does not affect its durability.

As a natural material, every piece of teak is unique. Variations in grain, colour and natural markings are inherent to the timber and cannot be controlled. Our skilled makers carefully select the timber, while features such as changes in grain direction should be celebrated as part of the natural beauty of the material.

Teak requires relatively little maintenance, although regular cleaning will help to keep the surface looking its best. Left to weather naturally, it will develop a beautifully understated patina that reflects its outdoor environment.

Care Instructions

Care

Teak is naturally well suited to outdoor use, but a little regular care will help to keep your furniture looking its best.

Clean your teak furniture thoroughly once or twice a year to remove dirt and surface deposits.
If your furniture will be left outside for extended periods of wet or unsettled weather, we recommend using a suitably fitted outdoor furniture cover.
During the winter months, store teak furniture and cushions in a dry, sheltered space such as a shed or garage where possible.
Store cushions separately from the furniture to allow air to circulate and help prevent moisture from being retained.

Cleaning

Teak can be cleaned with a specialist teak cleaner, available from most hardware and homecare retailers. Use a soft-bristled brush to gently remove dirt or mildew, taking care not to scrub too aggressively. Rinse the furniture thoroughly with clean water and allow it to dry naturally, ideally in a sunny, well-ventilated position.

Regular cleaning will help maintain the appearance of your teak furniture, while allowing the timber to weather naturally will develop the characteristic soft, silver-grey patina associated with outdoor teak.

All our UK orders come with free shipping. If you are ordering from outside the UK, please refer to our delivery page for further information.

If an item is shown as ‘in stock’ on the website, these are located in our London showroom or UK warehouse. If you order accessories or smaller furniture items these will be sent to you by our favoured courier service in a few working days. For all large furniture orders, our friendly staff will be in contact to arrange delivery and confirm access. Furniture not delivered by our white glove service will delivered to kerb-side by pallet.
