Recently we were involved in a project to furnish the new apartments at East Village London - the Olympic Village athlete accommodation turned rent-or-buy homes for Londoners.
East Village turned to acclaimed interior designers Wayne Hemingway MBE, Gerardine Hemingway MBE and their young HemingwayDesign team to lead the furnishing and interior design for the private rental homes at East Village.
"This is a once in a generation opportunity to help shape a crucial part of the Olympic legacy, providing much needed new homes for Londoners and ultimately improve people’s lives through well thought out design. This is the first project on this scale that tackles the major issue of housing in London and still does it with design flair at the heart of the approach. It’s an honour to be part of it." - Wayne Hemingway
East Village London has 1,439 homes available for private rental, with over half of the new homes to be offered furnished. Some of these apartments have been filled with Case furniture including the Bridge Extension Table, Bridge chairs, Valentine bedroom range, Ballet media unit and the Metropolis Sofa System. “It’s pretty incredible to think that you can rent your home fully furnished with key design pieces such as these and let me tell you, I was very tempted to move in on the spot – they truly are gorgeous!”.

About East Village London
Named "London’s Hippest Postcode", East Village is a vibrant neighbourhood attracting people of all ages and interests to our corner of East London with its unique offering of retailers, exciting events, and great community activities.
Nearly 6,000 people – and 18 retailers – now call East Village home, and over the coming years it’s set to grow further. These new developments will bring further regeneration, more residents, additional retail and commercial space and an even greater buzz to our growing neighbourhood.
With an emphasis on attracting new and interesting independent retailers, you can find yourself enjoying a morning coffee and cake at Italian bakery & pasticceria Signorelli, browsing for children’s clothes and homewares at Olive Loves Alfie East, and enjoying cocktails at Tina, We Salute You. That’s before even mentioning the array of other restaurants, shops, bars and services available in E20, which will soon total 30 in number. If they aren’t enough to quell your shopping and eating appetite, East Village sits right next to Westfield Stratford City – Europe’s largest urban shopping centre.
During the Olympics 17,000 athletes lived here, and it has now been transformed into 2,818 homes, with around 2,000 more planned. Just over half (1,439) are privately rented by Get Living London, while 1,379 are owned and managed by Triathlon Homes, which offers a mix of social rent, shared ownership and intermediate rents.
