The Case Edit: Outdoor
By Nicky Rampley-Clarke
In our inspiring new series, a team member at Case selects their favourite designs from our collection, from furniture to lighting and accessories. In the first edit, Sophie Hughes – marketing manager – is first in line to reveal her top picks for your outdoor space.
Eos Sofa Armchair
“Perfect for making your garden an extension of your interior this summer, the Eos Sofa Armchair – designed by Matthew Hilton – is a particular favourite of mine. On my wishlist is the Mediterranean-inspired rust colour, which will take centre-stage in any outdoor space this season. With a contemporary aesthetic and clean lines, it looks as good in an urban setting as it would in a country garden, while it features generous cushions that make it super-comfy to boot. But the best bit? It’s crafted from hardy powder-coated aluminium and upholstered in waterproof fabric, meaning it stays looking like new whatever the weather. The perfect spot for whiling away an evening, spritz in-hand.”
Eos Sun Lounger
“Part of the same range – winner of the prestigious Design Guild Mark in 2016, recognising the highest standards in design, no less – is the Eos Sun Lounger. Complementing the Armchair, it brings a touch of Ibiza style into the home with a slim silhouette in a white finish, while it’s made of the same weather-resistant materials for easy maintenance. Matthew Hilton has thought of everything, including two discreet wheels and plastic floor glides for ease of movement, together with a stackable design for compact storage.”
Tanso 2-Seater Sofa
“Sometimes, you need outdoor furniture that can accommodate more than just a single person, and such is the case with the Tanso 2-Seater Sofa, inspired by the simplicity of Japanese furniture. It’s the brainchild of David Irwin, the industrial designer, and bridges the gap between indoors and outdoors by elevating the craftsmanship, quality and detail of al fresco furniture. An elegant and detailed aesthetic belie truly robust materials that stand up to the high temperatures and wet conditions expected of outside. What’s more, the teak finish and grey finish are sympathetic to garden colour palettes, while looking gorgeous, too.”
Spindle Rug
“Nothing takes the indoors out quite like a rug, and the Spindle by textile superstar Eleanor Pritchard is just the thing, handwoven in India and featuring a large-scale pattern of repeating thick and thin blocks centre-scored with a fine line. My favourite is the hand-tufted option with a pile in a larger size as I would want the rug to fill the space beneath my outdoor furniture to zone the area of sitting and hosting friends.”
Mouro Lamp
"The biggest trend for this summer? Portable lamps for the garden. Good news, then, that we’ve got one of the best in the business in the form of the Mouro Lamp by Spanish designer Patricia Perez. It’s a real thing of beauty, comprising a powder-coated steel frame in a compact size, while three dimmable settings and a rotating 360-degree central element mean you can adjust the direction and ambience of the light as required. Low and flattering for dinner dates, bright and focused for reading. I love mine!”
